The Ruskin rongeur (“Ruskin / Liston – compound action”) is a rongeur variant with a compound-action joint, with extra mechanical leverage built into the instrument so that less force from the hand yields more force at the jaws. Because of the compound action, the bite width is reduced compared to simple‐action models.
